It's with sadness I have to report that my elder brother, Ed Jackson, passed away on 2 December in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, after a long illness. I know of Ed's long interest in Chris Barber and his music, and the role Ed played in developing one of the websites.

Messages to the family can be sent to his son Patrick at:

These are indeed very sad news. RIP Ed and thanks for your friendship all over the years

P.S. we have put a short message on the entry page of the Chris Barber website.

Very sad to hear that Ed has finally lost his battle after fighting for so long. Always fascinating to correspond with, it was great to finally meet him when I played with the Barber Band in Edinburgh. He was always fastidious & took notes constantly as we talked, so he could update records when he got home.
He'll be sadly missed, both by myself personally, and by the music scene as a whole. RIP Ed and hope you are now at peace.
