Hello Chris,Good to see you are playing in Newbury this month and that you are including a Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee number,Cornbread, Peas and Black Molasses.I am pleased to remind you that I heard you play at The Alexander Gardens Theater in Weymouth in 1957 I was 15 at the time and must admit I was very thrilled to hear Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee I was not to sure who they were as my friend and I only came to hear you, after the show we waited out side the stage door to try and get your autograph on the programme but the crowd was a bit large and under strict parent orders we had to be home as soon as possible due to school the next day.I still have the programme for the gig, priced one shilling (0.10p),on the back cover is the details of a Floating Festival of Jazz.Twenty bands are listed, two ships are hired all for £2.00 ,and the ticket could be purchased in installments.Of the bands listed on Chris Barber's Band is still afloat, congratulations.

Best Wishes Edward Page e- mail
