To message Board.
I'm investigate Ken C's work in Denamrk in April 1953. I havn't the full picture, and hope that someone can help.
I know that the band came to Denmark last wek in March and played 3 jobs on the 3., 4., & 5. April. They played 2 jobs on 11. & 12. April, all in Copenhagen. They played in Aarhus 18. April. They recorded in Skovshoved (10 titels) 12. April and in Gentofte Hotel the 19. april (13 titels).
I think there was more jobs between 5. to 10. and between 11 to 18 April. Can anyone help?

I've found a misprint in Ken C 1953-54 index. It say 530519 but it should be 530419.
Kindly regards

Torben, I know your message is an old one, but if you still seek info on the Colyer band's 1953 stay in Denmark, I may be able to help.

The first recording they made was "Tiger Rag" at Lorry's Guldaldersagen (7-9-13 Klubben) on April 11, 1953. It wasn't really a gig, just a one-time performance for an invited audience. I wanted to test my B&O recorder, so I started the tape, but it was not meant for release. In 1954 I suggested to Karl Knudsen (Storyville) that it might merit release, and he agreed. The following day, we did 2 trio recordings at the home of Henrik Johansen, the clarinetist, and on April 19, we recorded 11 tunes with the band at the Gentofte Hotel.

I don't know where you heard that the Colyer band came to Denmark in March '53—it didn't nor did they record in Denmark before April 11.

Chris Barber came earlier, by himself and—as I recall it—recorded 2 or 4 sides with a Danish band led by a trumpeter named Jeppe.
